私のはじめての留学経験は高校3年生です。2回目は、大学3年生の時です。どちらもアメリカに留学した経験があって、その中で感じたことや留学の目的についてお伝えしたいと思います。
まず最初に、留学って言うと「語学留学」が一般的ですよね。もちろん、語学を学ぶ上での留学は最短の方法だし、本当に素敵な経験になります。でもね、私はそこに「もったいないなぁ」と思うことがあるんです。
今留学を考えている方や、英会話を学びたい方に伝えたいのは、「目的を持って留学しよう！」ってこと。語学留学はその手っ取り早い方法だし、日本では難しい環境で学ぶこともできるけど、留学にはそれ以上の可能性が広がっているんですよ♪
例えば、私の一番の目的は「現地の文化やライフスタイルを学ぶこと」でした。
アメリカにいると、日本では経験できないようなことがたくさんあるんです。歴史や考え方、初対面での質問の仕方など、日本では学べないことに触れることができるんですよね。
そして、もうひとつの大きな目的が「世界中に友達をつくること」！
留学先では様々な国からの留学生が集まっていて、それがきっかけで本当にたくさんの友達ができました。国際的な友達ができることで、その国のことや言語をより深く理解することができるんですよ♪
もちろん、留学には他にもたくさんの目的があるし、それが人それぞれ。
例えば、「専門分野を深堀する」なんて素敵な目的もありますね。自分の目標に合った留学をすることで、言語は通過点になり、それ以上の成長が得られると思うんです♪
最後に、留学は1年間だけの出来事じゃなくて、新しい人生の一環。
